THE TINLEY PARK GOLF SHOW-returns this Friday, Saturday and Sunday Feb. 7-9 Doors open at Noon on Friday, with Friday’s admission only $5.00. Weekend admission is $10.00, prizes contests and more.

GOLFTINI-it’s not a name you hear everyday, and it sounds like a drink you would have on or at the golf course.

Well Golftini Owner and Founder Susan Hess mixed together some of her favorite things in life, and Golftini Clothes for women was what emerged.

Hess will tell you she loves golf, and she likes to play golf as often as possible, and then she likes drinks that have “tini” as part of their name.

So Golftini was a natural, and women in need of golf wear have benefited ever since. Sorry guys, there is no Golftini wear for you, just yet.

When asked about that, Hess hints that Golftini for men, might come around someday, just not right now.

Hess does more than run the company, she is also the lead designer for the Golftini lines.

Susan Hess is the owner of Golftini, that has relocated from New Jersey to the Chicago suburb of Prospect Heights.

2019 was a busy year for Hess, who decided to move Golftini the company from New Jersey, and take it back to her Midwest roots in the Chicago area. Currently Golftini has set up shop in Northwest suburban Prospect Heights.

Now with Golftini back up and running in the Chicago suburbs, Hess plans to make up for something she did not do much of in 2019. Play golf.

Hess admits that two rounds of golf for entire year is not enough, and who can blame her. Hopefully 2020 will see Hess back out on the golf course more often, when she is not creating more new styles for Golftini.

Click here to hear the interview with Golftini owner and lead designer Susan Hess.

While Golftini sounds like apparel for golf and it is, Golftini products work well for workouts, Yoga, jogging, tennis and more. The full product line is more than tops and skirts, in fact ladies if you need some Skorts, Golftini is the place to shop.

How you can tell it’s Golftini, look for the Golftini logo. See more at golftiniwear.com

Golftini’s all Pink Wear line supports breast cancer.

Golftini’s line of Tech-Jackets come in black, hot pink and white.

Golftini tops come with sleeves, without sleeves, V-neck tops can have zippers, buttons, or neither. Options galore for ladies who like to have choices in what they wear, both on and off the golf course.

Ladies learn more about Golftini by visiting Golftiniwear.com, check out Golftini’s social media pages on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter. You can call (800)-930-4377 or (908)-654-0252 and speak to a personal stylist. Ladies golf season will be here soon, get your wardrobe ready with a visit to Golftini.

Golfers on Golf has learned that Cog Hill Golf and Country Club has been selected to host the World Long Drive Championships. The contract is for five years, and in two of the years, Cog Hill will host the tour championship finals. On the three other years, Cog Hill will serve as a tour stop for the World Long Drive.

The space to be used at Cog Hill is now decided, and will be across the street from the Cog Hill red barn, on the back of the driving range. The land to be used was used as a car park for the BMW Championship and the Western Open in years past. There could still be a zoning issue to be worked out with the local community.

Dates have now been decided, September 3-9 this year, and this deal will run from 2020-2024. The events at Cog Hill will be shown on The Golf Channel.

Click here to hear the interview with Cog Hill General Manager Troy Newport, on Cog Hill hosting the World Long Drive National Championships.

***ADDING INFORMATION***

World Long Drive has partnered with Cog Hill to host the WLD Championship in 2020. Cog Hill hosted the Western Open and BMW Championship from 1991-2007, and the BMW Championship again 2009-2010-2011. During the years, Cog Hill has also hosted multiple USGA championships including the 1997 U.S. Amateur won by Matt Kuchar.

The new hitting grid for the championship will be constructed and the championship will be under the lights.

“For over 90 years, Cog Hill and the Jemsek family have been at the forefront of introducing and promoting the game of golf,” said Katherine Jemsek, president, Cog Hill Golf & Country Club. “We’re thrilled that our facility will host  the 2020 World Long Drive Championship. Long drive contests are in our blood, as our founder-my grandfather, Joe Jemsek-won the 1934 Chicago World’s Fair Long Drive contest. (With a drive of 501 yards off the top of tower). We look forward to welcoming fans, sports enthusiasts as well as competitors to historic Cog Hill in September.”

World Long Drive tour member, Wheaton’s Steve Kois, a former Cantigny Golf employee, warms up on the Cantigny range for a feature that ran last August in the CGDA magazine. Kois carried the project of bringing WLD to Chicago, with local courses and tour organizers.

“Coming off a memorable 2019 season, we’re expanding our commitment to global development of the sport through broader qualifying series that includes expansion in Asia and in other parts of the world,” said Matt Farrell, executive director, World Long Drive Association. “We also thrilled to bring our flagship event to the No.3 media market in the United States through a partnership with Cog Hill, whose tradition in the sport reflects our own storied history as we celebrate the 45th edition of the World Long Drive Championship this fall.”

The World Long Drive tour will begin later this month in Thailand, and will continue through the tour championship at Cog Hill.

The “Top Flite Bomb” will be the new official ball of World Long Drive, and will be used in all WLD events through 2020. Among the other long drive tour partnerships, is the Callaway Golf Company.

More information on the World Long Drive, can be found on the Golf Channel website.

THE GOG BLOG SPEAKS OUT-WINTER TRIP COMPLETE

THE TINLEY PARK GOLF SHOW is back this week starting Friday at Noon, with a special $5.00 admission on Friday. $10.00 on the weekend. Get your tickets now at Tinleyparkconventioncenter.net contests, prizes, you could win $500.00 on Sunday.

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED-WELL ALMOST, I have returned from the national PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, and now it’s time to get ready for the local Chicago area shows this week in Tinley Park, and at the end of the month in Rosemont.

When I worked for show host Mike Murphy at WSCR-AM, he would say, “we’re going to pack 10 pounds of stuff into a 5 pound bag.”

Well I feel that’s what I did with this trip, that left me always on the go, not enough time to relax, but I collected plenty of good things to fill up the site here, until the Golfers on Golf Radio show returns on WNDZ-AM 750 in April.

The only blemish on the trip, was that my final round of golf, outdoors, for a while anyway was washed away when the heavens opened up at Reynolds Lake Oconee in Greenboro GA., about an hour east of Atlanta.

Former Medinah Country Club Director of Golf Mike Scully, is doing a great job as general manager at Reynolds-L/O. But you must also credit the new Metlife ownership group for putting their millions of dollars of improvements into the property. Reynolds Lake Oconee is the top golf destination property in Georgia, offering 6 golf courses, plenty of first-class dining options, 5-star places to stay that include a Ritz-Carlton and tremendous villas. Practice facilities that rate among the best. Think Reynolds at Lake Oconee when you have Georgia on your mind, for golf and more. I’ll have more on the reopening of Great Waters later this week.

The new 18th hole back tee markers, on the Bear Tee’s at the Great Waters Course, Reynolds at Lake Oconee.

Demo Day at the PGA Show was a sunny, but cold and windy day. Some folks didn’t last 90 minutes before heading out. I made it five hours, before retreating to the hotel for the night.

But the show itself, with a record amount of almost 44,000 credentialed attendees continues to grow.

During my 19 day trip, I visited several resorts, a few more stand-alone golf properties, and the show. I covered 9 states and almost 4,000 miles. Learning and seeing a lot in the world of golf, at times it’s easy to see who the industry contenders are, and who are the wanna-be’s. There are some start-up’s that have a solid foundation, it will interesting to see how they grow.

You can visit my podcast with, Illinois Golf Hall of Fame Class of 2019 Inductee Len Ziehm for more thoughts on the PGA Show. Just scroll down a few stories.

INNISBROOK RESORT- I spent part parts of four days there. The resort with it’s new room renovation’s now complete, is really moving forward. On the golf side, there is some thought that it’s Valspar dates in 2021, could move to two weeks after the Masters, we will see. What I do think, is that if the USGA is serious about taking the new U.S. Sr. Women’s Open to places like Arizona or Florida, Innisbrook would be a great place for the championship in Florida. It could be played closer to fall dates, away from the Valspar Championship.

PINEHURST has the par 3 Cradle Course looking really sharp for the winter season, I’ll be posting a Cradle Close-up before too long. The newly remodeled Manor Inn and the Holly Inn are real winners for Pinehurst. I’ll have a review of Pinehurst hospitality in the days ahead.

COLT KNOST who won the 2007 USGA Public Links Championship at Cantigny Golf in Wheaton, has retired from the PGA Tour, after failing to keep his tour card by not winning yesterday at the Phoenix Open. He plans to work in golf broadcasting.

THE TINLEY PARK CONVENTION CENTER, home of this weeks Tinley Park Golf Show, Friday through Sunday. Buy tickets now. tinleyparkconventioncenter.net

THE WASTE MANAGEMENT Phoenix Open was not a good one for players with local area ties. Kevin Streelman, Luke Donald, and north suburbans Patrick Flavin of Highwood all missed the cut. Flavin the former Illinois Amateur and Illinois Open Champion made it into the field after surviving a Monday qualifier.

CBS has filed suit in the theft of some 46 camera’s and more from the 2019 PGA Championship at Bethpage Black.

According to various media reports, multiple vandals broke in on Sunday night after the final round and looted the CBS storage area. Yes there was security on site, but apparently a security guard who witnessed the theft did nothing. The lack of action by the guard got his company sued by CBS for major money.

Since I’m now stocked up with material, I’ll be writing plenty from the world of golf. So stay clicked in. RS
