Welcome to Pinehurst #10 Sandmines

PINEHURST #10 has now been open exactly ten months, and the progress continues at the newest property that comprises the Pinehurst Resort.

Tom Doaks stellar design is winning awards for the Best New Course of 2024, from several publications. But what #10 is, is not typical Pinehurst Golf.

There is elevation change, unlike the other Pinehurst courses, and the look is a mix of the Pinehurst old and traditional parkland course of pines, and the sandy waste areas that returned with the Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw’s restoration of the famed Donald Ross Course #2.

From the putting green the new buildings at #10 are going up.

So currently while course #10 is open, there is plenty still to be done. Pinehurst crews are working quickly to have much more of the #10 in order for the heart of the sandhills golf season.

But for those who played #10 last summer, things have changed since you putted out on 18.

The new pro shop building that will be home to both courses 10 and 11, is making it’s way through the construction process. The same can be said for the new restaurant going up right next to the pro shop building.

  (L) The new pro shop building is coming together. (R) For your food and beverages, the restaurant will be open this summer.

The new “halfway house” by the 9th and 16th tee boxes is open for business.

But once you hit the golf course, a well needed halfway house is open, after the 8th green, and behind the joining tee boxes of holes 9 and 16.

It is a great spot to grab an energy bar, or drink. Because walking #10 can really help you burn some calories.

Golfers to course #10 will enjoy the outdoor area around the restaurant when completed.

Course 10 merchandise is now arriving all the time, and is available in the current pro shop (trailer).

But for now the good news is that a great selection of #10 Sandmines merchandise has arrived in the current pro shop trailer.

There is also a smaller selection of #10 shirts that’s found in the merchandise shop in the Carolina Hotel. More items are still being added.

But for those of you that are still wondering, about the remainder of the property (aka course #11). There really is no update.

THE SHACK GOLF CLUB with owner Nick Larkin (L) and all-world caddie Greg Kunkel invite you to join them for the some golf this winter in The Shack. 7 simulators and more. 1717 Chestnut Ave, Glenview. So book some golf time at (847)-904-2905 or TheShackGolfClub.com

Because at one time there was some speculation that as soon as things got rolling at #10.

Course #11 would not be far behind. As of now that is not the case, and the resort has not announced a start date for construction to begin. When it does start, Coore and Crenshaw are still the front-runners to design #11.

Word has it that Coore and Crenshaw have been out to walk the land.

But for now, golfers can enjoy Doak’s Course #10, and wait to see the rest of the property evolve. Which now also includes an outdoor testing area for the USGA. To book your next Pinehurst play and stay-see Pinehurst.com.
