LEN ZIEHM has been on the move all through out the summer here in the Midwest.

Because one of his latest stops is the Sand Valley Golf Resort in Nekoosa Wisconsin. Where architect Tom Doak and his team, are working on two projects.

Chris Spalla takes over at the Shingle Creek Golf Academy.

CHRIS SPALLA a native of Orland Park Illinois, who grew up at the Olympia Fields Country Club, has taken over the Shingle Creek Golf Academy in Orlando Florida.

Spalla will serve as the academies top instructor, and oversee all the of the academies golf programs.

The academy was previously called the Brad Brewer Golf Academy. Brewer a long time associate of golf legend Arnold Palmer, passed away in April of 2021.

But under Spalla’s direction, the Shingle Creek Academy, located at the Rosen Hotel is reopening after facility improvements. Topgolf’s Renton venue will open its doors on Friday, July 29.

DALLAS BASED TOPGOLF has announced that it’s first Seattle Area location will open this Friday July 29th, Renton Washington.

The new facility is the companies 78th venue worldwide. Renton Topgolf will have, 102 outdoor hitting bays.

But Topgolf additionally announced that it will open a new venue in Jacksonville Florida. No dates for the opening have been announced. For more information see Topgolf.com.

THE MEN’S GOLF PROGRAM at the University of Illinois had four players named for academic awards, from the College Golf Coaches of America. Adrien Dumont de Chassart, and Tommy Kuhl earned this award for the third time. Jerri Ji earned the award for the second time, and Piercen Hunt earned his first award. THE USGA has announced a record number of entries 5,708 for the 2022 USGA Mid Amateur Championship. This years championship will be at the Erin Hills Golf Links in Erin Wisconsin and the Blue Mound Golf Club. Nine former USGA champions have signed up to be in the field, including 2021 USGA Mid-Amateur champion Stewart Hagestad. Hagestad will lead the field that includes 41 exempt players.

But entries have increased for the Mid-Amateur since the champion not only receives an invitation to the Masters Tournament, and now the 2023 U.S. Open Championship at the LA Country Club in California. But for more details see USGA.org.
