The University of Illinois Women’s Golf Team kept the week going for Illini golf.

On the heels of a win in California by the men’s team, the women’s team won their tournament in Tucson Arizona.

Illinois started out strong in Mountain View Collegiate, being tied for 1st place after the first round, but fell back to third place after Round 2.

But a team score of 5 under par in the final round made the Illini the champions of the tournament.

The five under par score for a single round was the fifth best, in program history.

Leading Ilinois was Sr. Grace Park and So. Tristyn Nowlin, who each carded 1 under par scores for the championship, and gave them a T-2 overall individual finish. For Nowlin it was her career best finish, the T-2 equaled Park’s best finish. The win for Illinois was the program’s second win of the season

Next on the tee is a trip to Columbus Ohio on April 14-15 for the Lady Buckeye Invitational, then the Illini ranked 23rd will get ready for the conference championship.
