Rich Harvest Farms Owner Jerry Rich, on the grounds at Caves Valley for day one of the LPGA International Crown matches.

The Rich Report found only here at the Gog Blog.

On day one of the matches, Rich Harvest Farms owner Jerry Rich got to see how his idea for a world wide golf event is starting to play out.

Rich said day one “was good” but all the girls played a little tight because this event is something special for them.

“The Asian girls really want to play well, ” said Rich. “They responded by stepping up on the first tee and ripped it down the middle.”

Rich went out on the golf course and took turns watching both of the Team USA and Chinese Taipei matches. “Chinese Taipei came to play,” said Rich.”We could get not get out of the box.”

Rich thought that Stacy Lewis played well for Team USA but could not get the putts to fall.

When asked if he thought that Team USA would be the only team on day one not to have any points Rich said,”No I did not. I am shocked but his might be a good wake up call. But in matches like this it show that the eight seed can be as good as the number one seed.”

When players were asked about the event and could they compare it to a Solheim Cup, Creamer said no but felt the intensity from the fans could reach Solheim Cup levels down the road. But said it was a good first day. Maybe for the Crown, but not for team USA.

Rich says, the LPGA faced a lot of challenges to make this all come together in 18 months after the event was announced at the 2013 PGA Show in Orlando. But by 2016, Rich feels his team and the LPGA will meet all the challenges an event like this has.

After watching the matches on Friday, he will go home and meet the people coming to the watch parties around Chicago. Rich says things are close to announcing a title sponsor, but he or the LPGA could not make that announcement quite yet.
