The Lancaster Country Club that just hosted the 2015 U.S. Women’s Open, and attracted the largest attendence of any U.S. Women’s Open in history. Is back in the market for another major women’s golf event.

The club announced this week that is was one of the five finalists for the 2021 Solheim Cup, but it appears that Lancaster might be one of the two finalists now. It’s rumored that only Lancaster and Inverness are the real two remaining finalists.

None of the five finalists were clubs from Illinois, the Solheim Cup was played in Illinois at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove in 2009. The 2017 Solheim Cup will be played in Iowa. The next LPGA event in the Chicago area is in July with the UL International Crown being contested at the Merit Club from July 21-24. See ULCrown.com for details.
