The 2016 BMW Championship is on the road again, and this time it’s close enough to home, that Chicago golf fans can hit the road and still attend the championship.
This years home is a return to the Crooked Stick Golf Club in Carmel Indiana, a course designed by Hall of Fame course designer Pete Dye. (See our interview with Pete Dye from yesterday).
The BMW was played at Crooked Stick in 2012, and it was won by Rory McIlroy. In 2017 it will return to Conway Farms in Lake Forest, before heading to Aronimink near Philadelphia in 2018, and back to Medinah Country Club in 2019 the final year of the BMW contract.
Crooked Stick will also host the 2020 Western Amateur Championship.
This year the top 70 players remaining the Fed Ex Cup Playoffs, will compete for a spot in the top 30 field the following week in Atlanta at the tour championship. The BMW Championship is the primary fund raiser for the Evans Scholar Foundation.

The Crooked Stick Golf Club has had a few changes made to the golf course since 2012, and Pete Dye tells golfers on Golf that he might add “a little something” for those tour players before they show up in September. The championship week is September 5-11. See BMWChampionship.com or visit WGAESF.org for more details.
