DSC03147Pete Dye Statue at FLR DS

The Pete Dye statue welcomes everyone to the Pete Dye Course at the French Lick Resort, our first stop of the trip. Remember Frenchlickresort.com when making your golf getaway plans in 2016. Play the Donald Ross Course too.

While some of the details of our first golf road trip are still coming together, the French Lick Resort in Southern Indiana is our first stop. Coming off hosting a successful 2015 Sr.PGA Championship, the team at FLR is working hard to bring another big golf championship to the resort.

Have you started making your golf plans for 2016, have your ordered those new clubs yet ?

Well next week in Orlando, I should have more about what’s new on the market equipment wise, and how both all you guys and gals can look a little more stylish on the course as well. Looking good and playing good, the theme for 2016.

Not heading anywhere south and warm yet, until you do check out the Halfway House for the best in Chicago area simulator golf. 555 S. York Road in Elmhurst Call 331-642-8050, to reserve that tee time. Next to HB Jones, today is Thirsty Thursdays half-price beer All day and All night.

The French Lick Resort not only has great golf, but fine restaurants, a spa and a casino, win your green fee’s in the casino and tee it up on house money, you can’t beat that.

Don’t forget, Frenchlickresort.com when you make your next plans for a golf getaway.

Whether you stay in the West Baden Hotel or the French Lick Resort hotel you can’t go wrong.

The Gog Blog will continue on from French Lick Resort and head to Historic Pinehurst in North Carolina, where I expect to open the 2016 on the Pinehurst #8 Tom Fazio design. If the weather doesn’t push us south of border into Santee South Carolina. That Mother Nature person is threatening to ruin our Saturday Pinehurst plans, but we will see.

DSC05824 MCQ's Dome range DS

McQ’s Sports Dome on Rt. 53 in Bolingbrook is your all-purpose dome. The golf is great, lessons, short game area and more, play the horse in the OTB and get that golf paid for with house money, the sports bar will hop tonight for the Blackhawks game in Tampa. Visit Mcqsdome.com for more information. McQ’s is part of McWethy-Mistwood Golf.

With that it’s time to load the trunk and hit the road, and if your not going to join the Gog Blog by heading south during the Chicago winter, make sure you hit the golf domes around town, or get that first round in on over 90 courses that you can play on the simulator at the Halfway House in Elmhurst.

The PGA Show starts next Tuesday with the demo day at the Orange County Golf Center, with the show moving into the Orlando Convention Center after that for three days.

I hope you will stay clicked in over the next two weeks, as the Gog Blog brings you what news at the golf resorts and in the industry. An exciting time of the year for golfers, are you ready. RS.
