The 2023 CDGA Winning Amateur Team.

THE CDGA AMATEURS GO…

BACK-TO-BACK over the IPGA Professionals.

Finals Score CDGA 11.5-IPGA 6.5.

So earning 1.5 points for amateurs Zach Mulhearn and Will Troy meant a lot. Because both have dad’s who have played in the event as professionals (Danny Mulhearn-Mike Troy). But for Will Troy his great grandfather  IL. Golf Hall of famer Zigfield Troy served as a Radix Cup captain in the early years of the event.

The Illinois PGA professionals still lead the all-time series 37-22-2. But the 5 point margin of victory was the largest for the amateurs in 12 years. The CCDGA has had the better of play in recent years.

CDGA Teams of Chadd Slutzky and John Ramsey & Jake Erickson and Tim Sheppard both earned a full three points. But the top Illinois PGA team of Brian Carroll and Kevin Flack could only get 2.5 points out of three.

This was the first time since 2017-18, that the CDGA Amateur have won in back-to-back years.
