TOURNAMENT TIME has returned the Chicago area.
THE NV5 Invitational of the Korn Ferry Tour is playing at The Glen Club in Glenview.
Christopher Petefish is the leader at 11 under par. But Northbrook’s Nick Hardy a University of Illinois alum, is just one shot back.
But there is more good news, if your rooting for the local Chicago area golfers that are in the field. Several of them are past Illinois Open champions, with some of those titles won at The Glen Club.
Deerfield’s Vince India is 4 shots back at 7 under par, after a 3 under par 68, in some wet, rainy and windy conditions. Because of over night rains, the course was playing soft even before the rain returned mid-morning.
Patrick Flavin of Highwood was one of the last golfers to finish on Friday night. But his 2 under 69 left Flavin at 6 under par, five shots off the lead.
Lake Forests Brad Hopfinger, shot a 72 (+1). But at 5 under par Hopfinger stays for the weekend.
University of Illinois alums, Michael Feagles, Luke Guthrie at 5 under par, and Dylan Meyer at 4 under par, all made the cut that fell at 4 under par.
BUT THE NEWS wasn’t so good for current Illinois Open champion Tee-K Kelly who seemed safe for the weekend most of the day at three under par. But late in the round when the line went up to 4 under par, and suddenly Kelly was out for the weekend.

Meyer who needs a Top 25 finish this weekend to play next week on the Korn Ferry Tour, is first out for Round 3 at 7:40 Am. But Meyer will need to make a move on moving day.
The championship will conclude on Sunday, with the winner taking home a check for $135,000.
