THE CDGA Championships opened their season at the Naperville Country Club with the 7th CDGA Mid-Amateur Championship.
But when the final putt was conceded, the winner for the first time in CDGA play was John Zur of Glenview.
Zur was a 3 & 1 winner over Tim Sheppard of East Peoria. “This was a great accomplishment for me and it means a lot,” said Zur.
But after two of his previous matches went 20 holes, Zur was happy to finish a little quicker this time. But by winning the Mid-Amatuer, Zur is now exempt into the 2022 CDGA Amateur, Illinois State Amateur and Illinois State Mid-Amateur.
THE CDGA SENIOR AMATEUR begins tomorrow May 23rd at the Medinah Country Club, and concludes on Wednesday.

THE KITCHEN-AID Senior PGA Championship is back on the tee at the Harbor Shores Resort in Benton Harbor Michigan.
It’s been four years since the last championship was held at Harbor Shores. Because the 2022 Senior PGA Championship was cancelled because of the Covid Pandemic.
The pro-am is on Wednesday the 25th, with the championship running from the 26th through the 29th. Alex Cjeka is the defending champion, having won at Southern Hills Country Club in 2021.
