THE PGA of AMERICA has awarded Ian Brown the Director of Golf at the Butterfield Country Club the 2021 PGA Merchandiser of the Year Award-Private Category.

“This year’s outstanding class of National Awards recipients are inspiring those involved with the game of golf. In addition to the advancement of PGA Professionals throughout our industry,” said PGA of America President Jim Richerson. “The PGA of America is proud to recognize their accomplishments. They reflect the incredible expertise and talent throughout our Association. From the nearly 28,000 PGA Professionals, these 13 recipients are at the forefront. They reflect a standard of success for all of us to emulate and admire.”

THE PGA MERCHANDISER of the Year Award-Private Category. This award recognizes PGA Professionals who have excelled in business and merchandising in the promotion of golf.

Because Brown’s philosophy of merchandising products at competitive prices, with exceptional customer service has been proven successful with Butterfield’s increased sales. Brown has been using a resort style purchasing program to assure items don’t run out.

“I am excited and honored to be named 2021 PGA National Merchandiser of the Year-Private. Then to represent the Illinois PGA as a National Award Winner is meaningful,” said Brown. “This award is a representation of all the hard work and commitment from my team at Butterfield. Because they put in so much work to make our shop the place that members and their guests seek out. Before, during and after the round to purchase all their golf and lifestyle needs.”

Brown was the winner of the 2020 IPGA-Private Award winner. But he is also the sixth member of the IPGA to win this award.

Brown went on to thank the members of Butterfield Country Club, and his team in the pro shop. Brown credited his merchandise manager Andy Glick, who has been key in producing new ideas for the shop.
