THE 2021 BMW CHAMPIONSHIP raised a record windfall for the Evans Scholars and the Western Golf Association (WGA).

Because this past August at Caves Valley Golf Club, the 2021 BMW Championship put $5.6 million dollars into the scholarship fund for the Evans Scholars Foundation.

Making the overall total amount raised over $40 million dollars, since BMW came on-board as title sponsor.

Because of support from BMW, the Caves Valley Golf Club Foundation, the local corporate community, and the over 100,000 spectators that turned out in person for the championship. The 2021 BMW Championship broke the previous fundraising record $1.2 million, set in 2019 at Medinah Country Club.

WGA Sr. VP of Tournaments Vince Pellegrino speaks at media day for the 2021 BMW Championship at Caves Valley.

“We’re proud to announce the contribution of all proceeds from the BMW Championship to the Evans Scholars Foundation. Because they will be used to send hardworking youth caddies to college,” said Vince Pellegrino, WGA senior vice president of tournaments. “Because of the generosity of our partners at BMW, Caves Valley and the PGA TOUR and the incredible enthusiasm of the Baltimore-area fans, this was truly a special year for our championship.”

The J.K. Wadley trophy (L) and the BMW Championship trophy (R).

Patrick Cantlay won the first TOUR event hosted in the Baltimore area in almost 60 years. But Cantlay’s dramatic win took a six-hole playoff with Bryson DeChambeau.

Currently, the number of caddies enrolled at various colleges and universities sits at 1,070.

BMW has recently signed on to host the 2023-2027 championships. With the 2023 BMW Championship to be played at the Olympia Fields Country Club in the south suburbs of Chicago. But for more details on the 2022 championship at Wilmington Country Club in Delaware, see BMWChampionship.com.
